While English children were watching Anday Pandy, Basil Brush down in Aussie children were watching......................

Mr Squiggle was Australias longest running children's show! Squiggle was created by Norman

Hetherington and the show first went to air in 1959, the show then ended 9/07/99

Mr Squiggle was a very talented guy with a pencil for a nose, he also must have been very

rich for he owned a space rocket. He flew down to earth from the moon to turn squiggled notes sent in by children into creative drawings. He had some talented side-kicks as well, Blackboard who was a very grumpy one and was always yelling, "hurry up, hurry up" with the drawings, I should also point out that most were drawn up side down, that Squiggle would jump up and down asking for them to be turned around. The other 2 side-kicks were Mr Shovel who was great at joke telling and Snail. Watch the video clip link below to see Mr Squiggle and Miss Jane in action.

Humphrey B Bear came to life on May 24th 1965, he never spoke, always used mime and loved to explore and pretend. Of course like all 4 year olds he was soon in trouble and like every other child he had to learn from his mistakes. This show emphasied that it was not important to be the best at everything you tried but that you were there taking part with your friends and having fun. It also was a good time for young Mum's to get some work done as children sat enthralled with this bear with the plastic nose. And of course commercialism jumped in and sold millions of Humphrey B Bear toys. Humphrey also won many awards including "Citizen of the Year Award.

The best remembered song;

Humphrey Theme Song (1970 - 1996)

What a funny old fellow is Humphrey,
He gets in all manner of strife,
He leads a very exciting life,
And honey's his favourite fare,
Which is hardly so very surprising,
He's a really amazing old bear,
What a funny old fellow is Humphrey,
Humphrey the fun loving bear!

Sadly the Supreme Court has ordered that the company behind popular children's character Humphrey B Bear be wound up. The Adelaide Advertiser reported last month that Channel 9 had taken Banksia Productions to court over an alleged $50,102 debt.

Bananas in Pajamas premiered in 1992 and was shown throughout the world, the Aussie bananas can now speak anything from Japanese to Portuguese. They have met the President of the US and have even been on the Oprah show. The show has 2 main characters B1 and B2 and they live in Cuddles Avenue, with 3 Teddy bears called, Lulu, Morgan and Amy close by, there's also a rat in a hat who is rather a clever, clever, rat at that.
